Debut FIAGT3 Pole for AutoGT Racing and for Morgan

Dimitri Enjalbert gave AutoGT Racing and Morgan their first FIA GT3 European Championship pole position and then Maxime Martin followed this up in the second qualifying session claiming pole position for race 2.

Round 1 Qualifying
Thomas Accary will line up alongside Enjabert on the front row for this afternoons race in Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9, finishing the 20-minute session 0.306 seconds behind the AutoGT Racing Morgan Aero Super Sport.  Row two is all Audi with Nicolas Armindo in Team Rosberg Audi R8 LMS two tenths quicker than the Phoenix Racing Audi R8 of Christopher Mies.  Heading row three is the first of the Fischer Racing Ford GTs, driven by Christoffer Nygaard with the second Morgan of Gael Lesoudier in 6th.

Dimitri Enjalbert said: “I’m very glad to get this pole position.  I have a very good feeling about the car and the track, which has long straights and some very nice turns.  The goal is now to win the race and take a lot of points for the overall championship.  Today I start in first and Johan-Boris (Scheier) starts tomorrow in sixth and this is very good for Morgan and very good for AutoGT and thanks to all the mechanics, Jean-Pierre Jabouille and Jacques Lafitte.”

Round 2 Qualifying
In the second qualifying session Sean Edwards nearly took a pole position on his return to the championship in the Muehlner Motorsport Porsche 997 GT3 Cup S but the 2006 Champion had to settle for a front row position just 0.145 seconds behind Maxime Martin's flying Morgan.  Heading row 2 is the Marc Sourd Racing Corvette Z06R GT3 of Diego Alessi, with the first of the Matech Racing Ford GTs with Dino Lunardi at the wheel alongside the Corvette.  Row three is taken by last year’s double race winner Thomas Mutsch in the second Matech Ford GT along with Frederic Makowiecki in the Hexis Racing AMR Aston Martin DBRS9.

Maxime Martin said: “This is fantastic for all the team but it wasn’t easy because I only did one lap, but it was very hot and it was enough.  The car is going well here at Silverstone and we hope that it will be like this all season.  This is my first time in a Morgan at Silverstone but I’ve raced here before and I like the track a lot.”

Jean-Pierre Jabouille said: “I’m very happy with this result. This has been a lot of work for the past three years and I’m very happy for Mr Morgan because the factory is not very far from here.  We are a very small team, but they work very hard and we are strong. The car is good and, for here, is perfect.  I would like to win the championship because it is very important for next season.  However it is going to be difficult, there are a lot of good drivers and good cars, but we have pole position and that is good; I’m happy.”
